Although the tool quickly became popular among hackers for attacks, Benjamin Delpy used it to raise awareness about cyber threats. Mimikatz can extract passwords from a computer’s memory, allowing attackers to access systems without knowing the passwords.
The tool pushed companies to take the security of their networks more seriously.
