Discord + YouTube - Roskomnadzor
One of the reasons for Discord being blocked in Russia was that users could share YouTube links, and the videos would still play, even if YouTube was blocked by Roskomnadzor. Naturally, the authorities weren't too happy about this and wanted to "fix" the situation. However, there was a catch: blocking these sneaky links would require changes to Discord’s code.
The issue is, Discord wasn’t willing to make such drastic changes just for one country. Altering the platform’s code could introduce serious security risks, something Discord wasn’t eager to do. So, the authorities were left with the same problem they started with – no effective solution, but with a fresh new block in place.
