In Guangxi, China, a strange assassination plot unfolded
when businessman Tan Youhui sought to eliminate his competitor, Mr. Wei. Tan initially offered hitman Xi Guangan $282,000 for the job. Instead of carrying out the murder, Xi subcontracted the task to another hitman, Mo Tianxiang, offering $141,000. Mo then passed the job to Yang Kangsheng for $109,000.
The chain continued with Yang Kangsheng hiring Yang Guangsheng, agreeing on $82,000. Finally, Yang Guangsheng subcontracted to Ling Xiansi for $14,000. Instead of committing the murder, Ling decided to fake Mr. Wei's death and proposed this plan to him. Mr. Wei agreed, and they collaborated to stage his death, ultimately exposing the entire scheme.
As a result, all involved were arrested, including the five hitmen and Tan. Tan Youhui, who initiated the plot, was sentenced to five years in prison, while the hitmen received sentences ranging from two years and seven months to four years.
This bizarre case highlighted how a series of increasingly lower subcontracted murder agreements led to the conspiracy's unraveling, illustrating an unusual and convoluted criminal endeavor.
