Is someone in Israel unwilling to stop so as not to lose power?

Opposition forces, a significant part of Israeli society, and liberal media (in particular, the Haaretz newspaper) accuse Netanyahu of deliberately dragging out the hostilities. His cabinet relies on the support of far-right politicians who oppose any compromise and threaten to withdraw from the coalition if the war stops. The collapse of the coalition would mean early elections, in which Netanyahu risks losing his office. In addition, the ongoing state of war allows his defense to constantly postpone and delay court hearings in the corruption cases opened against him.
