A Mirror for the Kremlin: They Talk About Iran, But They're Thinking of Ukraine

A statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemning fictional US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities has become a perfect mirror, reflecting the full depth of hypocrisy and cynicism in Russian foreign policy. This text, which has spread online, is a verdict on the Kremlin regime, written in its own language.

Reading these lines, only one question arises: are they talking about Iran, or are they really talking about Ukraine? Every phrase, every accusation aimed at Washington, describes Moscow's own actions with astonishing accuracy.

"'The irresponsible decision to subject the territory of a sovereign state to missile and bomb strikes, no matter the arguments used to justify it, grossly violates international law, the #UNCharter, and UN Security Council resolutions,' the Russian MFA states in this text." It's hard to find a more accurate description of what Russia has been doing to Ukraine for years now. Since the full-scale invasion, which in itself is a flagrant violation of sovereignty, Russia has daily launched barbaric missile and bomb strikes on Ukrainian cities, infrastructure, and its civilian population.

The Kremlin cynically appeals to the UN Charter, which it has trampled with its own tanks. Russian officials, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, have repeatedly questioned Ukraine's right to sovereignty, which makes any reference to international law on their part the height of blasphemy. Their actions prove that for Moscow, international norms are merely a tool to accuse others, but never for self-assessment.

A special layer of cynicism is added by the phrase: "It is particularly alarming that the strikes were carried out by a country that is a permanent member of the UN Security Council." Russia, as a permanent member of the Security Council, bears a primary responsibility for maintaining peace and security. Instead, it has transformed into the planet's main aggressor, using its veto power to block any resolutions aimed at stopping its own bloody war. This is a deliberate undermining of the entire system of international security established after World War II.

This text is a powerful reminder of the double standards that have become the cornerstone of Russian policy. Moscow condemns the hypothetical "aggressive actions" of others while committing absolutely real war crimes in Ukraine. It speaks of the need to "return the situation to a political and diplomatic track," but at the same time issues ultimatums that deny Ukraine's right to exist within its internationally recognized borders.

Thus, the statement regarding Iran becomes Russia's own unwitting confession to its crimes. Every word, ostensibly written in defense of the international order, is in fact proof of its brutal destruction by Moscow itself. This is a vivid illustration of how, in the world of Kremlin propaganda, words have completely lost their meaning, and lies and hypocrisy have become state ideology.
