Fraudsters are increasingly targeting mobile users through Progressive Web Apps (PWAs)

mimicking banking apps. A phishing technique discovered by ESET allows malicious apps to be installed without warnings about third-party sources.

Using calls, SMS, and social media ads to spread phishing URLs, victims are directed to fake app store pages where they are prompted to install an "updated version" of a banking app.

Update important apps only through the App Store or Google Play.
