The Russians are doubly shocked in Estonia, at Nova Poshta branches from Ukraine, there’s no Russian language at all, only Ukrainian and Estonian and, of course, they’re not planning to learn Estonian either. How dare someone live in another country and not feel like the boss?
Estonians just watch this with a wry smile. After all, if someone can’t even bother to learn “Tere” or “Aitäh,” that’s not Estonia’s or Nova Poshta’s problem. Ukrainian fits right in, though — it’s our language, and we’re proud to use it.
Meanwhile, the Russians are left without their usual crutch. They still assume “everyone must know Russian,” but now they’re stuck either pulling up Google Translate or picking up a few new phrases. Or they could just stay shocked. 😊
