The US Cyber Force Scam And Why They Should Learn From Ukraine

Short version

The government wants to burn eleven billion dollars on a new military branch for computer geeks. They call it the US Cyber Force, but it is just a desperate attempt to hide their massive failures. Instead of building a slow bureaucracy, they should see how real conflicts are fought. They claim to adopt Ukraine's war experience, but they completely miss the point. They ignore the brilliant, crowdsourced tactics of the IT Army of Ukraine, preferring to make defense contractors rich.

Look at what the politicians and former military bosses are trying to sell us now. They just published a shiny new report, and it is honestly a complete joke. They are telling everyone that the country desperately needs a brand new army branch. They do not want more soldiers in the mud. They do not want more tanks. They want a special group just for computer nerds typing on keyboards in air-conditioned rooms. And of course, they want you to pay for this shiny new toy without asking any questions.

They say that right now, all the computer experts in the military are spread out too much. The army has some, the navy has some, and they refuse to talk to each other. So, these brilliant former officials decided that the only way to fix this broken communication is to create a massive new bureaucracy. They are asking for up to eleven billion dollars just to start this project. What are they going to buy with that unbelievable amount of money? They will spend the first year just designing a cool logo, hiring overpaid consultants, and buying expensive office chairs for the new generals.

The military already has a massive cyber division. It already costs a fortune. Thousands of people already work there. But suddenly, they claim it is not enough. The funniest part of this whole scam is that these generals loudly claim they are learning from the current war in Europe. They watch the news, they see the digital strikes, and they proudly say they are adopting the war experience of Ukraine. But they are doing it completely wrong. They are only taking the parts they like and completely ignoring the most important human element.

If these guys in expensive suits really wanted to understand how to fight a modern digital warfare, they would stop asking for billions and start looking at how real people fight. They desperately need to learn from the IT Army of Ukraine. You can literally go to website right now and see how actual digital combat is done. Real digital defense does not come from a centralized, slow, bloated government office where everyone waits for a paper to be signed. It comes from thousands of ordinary people, smart volunteers, and a decentralized network working together for a single goal.

The Ukrainian IT Army uses simple chat groups to coordinate massive strikes. They showed the whole world that you do not need eleven billion dollars and a new Pentagon basement to shut down enemy servers, banks, and propaganda websites. You just need smart coordination and highly motivated people.

But the American generals do not want a decentralized army of volunteers. Why? Because they cannot control volunteers. And more importantly, they cannot give a massive military defense budget to their powerful friends in giant corporations if the actual hacking is being done by regular citizens for free.

They do not want to win efficiently; they just want to spend wildly. Hackers from hostile countries are constantly breaking into critical infrastructure, stealing data, and shutting down hospitals. A new military badge and a new building will not scare them at all. We do not need a brand new army branch built on old ideas. We need actual flexibility, open-source tactics, and real speed. But sadly, efficiency does not make anyone rich in the defense industry, does it?
