Overnight into April 24, 2025 (starting from 7:30 PM the previous day), Russian forces conducted a large-scale combined air attack on Ukraine. The assault involved various types of missiles (air-, ground-, and sea-launched), "Shahed" attack drones, and decoy drones.
Kyiv was the primary target of the occupiers' strike.
In total, Air Force surveillance units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces detected and tracked 215 enemy air targets:
* 11 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles (launch areas – Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk regions, RF).
* 37 Kh-101 cruise missiles (from Tu-95MS strategic bombers, launch area – Saratov region).
* 6 Iskander-K cruise missiles (launch area – Donetsk region).
* 12 Kalibr cruise missiles (from the Black Sea).
* 4 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missiles (from tactical aircraft, launch area – Belgorod region).
* 145 "Shahed" attack UAVs and various types of decoy drones (from the areas of Bryansk, Millerovo, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, RF; Chauda, Crimea).
Engaged in repelling the enemy air attack were aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, Electronic Warfare (EW) assets, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Air Defense Results (as of 10:00 AM):
According to preliminary information, the successful interception of 112 air targets has been confirmed:
* 7 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles.
* 31 Kh-101 cruise missiles.
* 6 Kalibr cruise missiles.
* 4 Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missiles.
* 64 "Shahed" attack drones.
Additionally, 68 enemy decoy drones were lost from radar tracking without causing damage.
Aviation played a significant role in repelling the attack, particularly F-16 and Mirage fighter jets, whose pilots are credited with downing dozens of air targets.
As a result of the attack, damage and casualties are reported in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
The Air Force continues to defend Ukraine's airspace.
