After days of silence regarding its large-scale military exercises—considered among the most significant in decades—China’s Ministry of Defense issued a cryptic statement quoting Sun Tzu: “Just as water takes no fixed shape, so too in warfare there are no fixed conditions.”
The ministry emphasized that decisions on whether and when to conduct drills are determined solely by China, based on its strategic needs and the ongoing "struggle."
"The People's Liberation Army will always remain vigilant and resolute in its fight against independence and in favor of reunification, regardless of whether drills are being conducted," the statement declared.
Unlike previous exercises around Taiwan, these drills were notable for the absence of the usual wave of propaganda, signaling a shift in China’s approach to its military messaging.
